1. Cepelinai
Cepelinai is traditional Lithuanian dish and it is also very popular in northeastern of Poland.
A difficult dish to cook and with take time to make.
This dish is also called Cepelinai due to its resemblance with the zeppelin aircraft
Ingredients: waxy patatoes, beaten egg, shallot finely diced, pork mince. ground caraway seeds, crushed garlic clove, plain flour and you can add some extra plain flour for dusting.
Šaltibarščiai is a traditional cold beet soup and the perfect meal to eat in a hot summer day.
This dish is also very simple to cook and it won't take much time either.
Šaltibarščiai is made with with beets, onion, buttermilk, sour cream,hard-cooked eggs, cucumbers and dill.
3. Kugelis
Šakotis is a popular Lithuanian-Polish tree cake.
This layered cake rotated and crisped in front of a roaring fire.
It is used in weddings, birthdays, Christmas and big celebrations and it is ordered in special bakeries that have the right equipment to prepare the cake.
The main ingredients to prepare this hollow cake with spikes are: eggs, sour cream, sugar, butter and flour.
Traditional pastries filled with mutton and onion, Kibinai is famous within the Karaite ethnic minority in Lithuania.
Kibinai is associated with the city of Trakai.
The main ingredients to prepare this dish are: lean beef, onion, flour, butter, sour cream, eggs, salt and pepper.
